THE AUDIT · PAID

One hour on the whole company. One page you keep.

What we look at

01 · YouWho prices the changeouts. Who the customers call. Whose name is on the licence. How many days you took off last year, phone off.Why a buyer caresWhile everything runs through you, the company cannot do more in a day than you can.
02 · The moneyWhat the company really makes once you pay yourself properly. Whether the books would hold up if a buyer’s accountant went through them. Why a buyer caresEvery decision comes off this number, so it has to be right first.
03 · The workService, changeouts, new installs, light commercial. How much comes back every year on its own: agreements, tune-ups. Whether one builder is a third of your revenue. Why a buyer caresWork that comes back on its own costs nothing to win. Work you chase costs you every time.
04 · The crewHow many techs. How long they stay. Who your number two is. How long it takes you to hire one.Why a buyer caresA shop that cannot hire cannot grow, whatever the phone does.
05 · The systemsDispatch, quoting, the office software. Flat rate or time and materials. What is written down and what lives in your head. Why a buyer caresSystems are what let someone else run it.
06 · Where the calls come fromWhat a booked job costs you. Your reviews. How many calls turn into jobs. What happens to a call at 9pm.Why a buyer caresA company that depends on one source of work is one bad month from a bad year.
07 · What transfersLicences, insurance, the lease, the trucks, the service agreements. What is in your name and what is in the company’s.Why a buyer caresCheap to sort out now. Expensive to sort out during a sale.
08 · Your marketWho else does HVAC in your area, what they charge, and how much of the work is going to them instead of you.Why a buyer caresIt shows where your prices and your share sit.

How the hour goes

Before the hour, the inspection has already read the outside: your Google standing, your reviews, who else is advertising in your area.

In the hour, we go through the eight areas in the order a buyer weighs them. You first, the money second. Every figure we do not see is marked not seen, never guessed.

After the hour, one page. Three lines and a list. Never a number for what the company is worth, never a forty-page report.

The five answers

An audit that cannot say no is a sales call with an invoice. Two of the five answers earn us nothing, and we give them.

01You are closer than you think. Two or three fixes close most of the gap.A short fix
02You are the company.Every job runs through you, and that is what is holding it back. It is fixable. The real fix
03It runs fine. It just is not growing.Nothing is broken. Not enough calls are coming in.The fix, plus more calls
04Not yet.The timing is wrong. We tell you what to do in the meantime and give you a date to come back.Nothing owed
05Leave it as it is.It is working, and the fixing would cost you more than it would bring back. We tell you why.Nothing owed
04

What it costs

The audit is paid. We tell you the fee on the call, before you decide anything, and it comes off the fix if you go ahead. There is no price on this website because there is no price until we have talked.
