Exclusive or non-exclusive: choosing your licence
What each option means, and what stays yours either way.
A licence is permission, not a sale
A licence lets a buyer use an agreed copy of your records for agreed purposes. You keep ownership of the original records.
The agreement sets the uses, who can access the copy, how long they keep it, and what happens at the end.
Exclusive
With an exclusive licence, you agree not to license the same records to anyone else, for a set time or a set use.
Buyers often value exclusivity more, because no one else can use the same records.
Non-exclusive
With a non-exclusive licence, you may license the same records to more than one buyer.
Each agreement must say clearly what that buyer may do, so the licences do not conflict.
One copy of past records
Korra licenses a copy of past records. Buyers never get live access to your systems.
If a buyer later wants newer records, that is a new agreement you can accept or decline.
You choose
